Waste Management Problems in Pokhara, Nepal

This pic was taken by me near the Pokhara Domestic Airport. This is a drain but people are throwing their wastes such as plastic mineral water bottles, plastic bags and other wastes in here. There are many other drains in the Pokhara city that are also treated as public rubbish bins. This brings such a terrible image to our society. And when the wastes piles up it can cause health problems too. One quick solution i can provide is to implement public rubbish bins all over the city.

   This pic was taken as i was returning home from my morning walk. This old man was collecting empty plastic mineral water bottles in his sack. Although i was happy to see someone was paid to collect one form of wastes, it saddened me because such an old man was doing such a tiring job and he was given only a sack and a stick to do his job. One solution that i can provide for public waste collectors is that they should work in groups and wear safety gloves to protect themselves from germs.
